Thais Fernandes
Thais Fernandes (1984) is a documentary filmmaker. For over 15 years, she has worked as an editor/director on audiovisual projects for television and film. Since 2024, she has been a graduate of DOCNOMADS, an Erasmus Mundus master's program focused on documentary directing. She directed the short films Love Contract (Gramado Festival 2013), Navigators (Curta Cinema 2015), and A Femlae Body (BFI 2018). She was responsible for the executive production, research, and video editing of the web documentary The Invented Village (DOKLEIPZIG 2017). In 2020, she released After all, Who is God? (Prix Jeunesse 2020), her first TV series, and her first feature-length film, PORTUÑOL, which won the Best Gaucho Feature award at the 48th Gramado Film Festival. In 2024, she is preparing to release MSD'UP - My Life with Multiple Sclerorsis, a feature documentary about the life of Brazilian cartoonist Rafael Corrêa.
Juliana Costa
Deputy Coordinator of the Audiovisual Literacy Program of Porto Alegre, Juliana Costa holds a Ph.D. in Social Communication from PUCRS-RS and a Master's degree in Education from UFRGS, with research in cinema and education. She is also a cinema researcher and critic, as well as a basic education teacher in the Municipal Education Network of Porto Alegre. She is a member of ACCIRS – the Association of Film Critics of Rio Grande do Sul, and ABRACCINE – the Brazilian Association of Film Critics. She will be a mentor at TALENTS RIO 2024 in the critique lab.
Henrique Lahude
Graduated in Audiovisual Production from UNISINOS (2012) and specialized in Project Development for Cinema and TV from EICTV in Cuba (2013). He coordinates the film and education project Cidade Cinematográfica and the dissemination program Adentro – Mostra Interiorana do Cinema Gaúcho. The Haitian diaspora and the border are central themes in his latest works as a director
Jonatas Rubert
A Master's student in Social Anthropology at UFRGS and a graduate in Audiovisual Production from UNISINOS, he is one of the creators of POADOC, Porto Alegre's first documentary festival, and a teacher in the Cidade Cinematográfica project workshops. He has worked for 15 years as an educator, curator, editor, director, and screenwriter. His editing credits include series such as Dragon (GloboPlay), Grandes Cenas (Canal Curta!), Sementes de Amanhã (Canal Futura), and feature films like Portuñol (Best Gaucho Feature at the 2020 Gramado Film Festival), Vai Dar Nada (Paramount Plus), Memórias de Um Esclerosado (Best Editing Award at the 2024 Gramado Festival), and Virgínia e Adelaide (closing film at the 2024 Gramado Festival). As a director, his notable short films include A Diferença entre Mongóis e Mongoloides (Best Direction, Screenplay, and Art Direction at the Gaucho Showcase at the 2022 Gramado Festival), and Desejo (International Vampire Film Festival 2015). He is currently working as screenwriter and director on the feature film Uma em Mil, set to premiere in 2024.
Victor Pinheiro
An undergraduate student in Visual Arts - Licensure at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). Since 2021, he has been a research fellow in the project 'The production of short films in Latin American audiovisuals from a decolonial perspective in the 21st century, focusing on productions from the Southern Cone,' funded by FAPERGS/IFRS. He is part of the audiovisual production team OfCine, a partnership between the Ministry of Culture and the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul, Rio Grande Campus. In 2023, he became a board member of the Rio Grande Municipal Council of Cultural Policy in the audiovisual sector. He is the Executive Producer of the Latin American Film Showcase in Rio Grande, now in its sixth edition. In 2020, he joined the production team for the first edition of POADOC - Porto Alegre Documentary Festival. In 2023, he worked as a local producer for the short film Cassino, directed by Gianluca Cozza, and for the short film Cine Dunas. In 2024, he is producing the short film No Meio do Caminho, directed by Adryan Copello."
Natasha Ferla
Graduated in Audiovisual Production from UNISINOS, she has worked on acclaimed films such as "Hard Paint" (2018), which premiered and was awarded at Berlinale, and "Portuñol" (2020), which won Best Feature at the Gramado Film Festival. She has experience in co-productions across Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and France, and has contributed to projects like "The Employer and the Employee" (Quinzaine des réalisateurs 2021) and "La Botera" (2021). Since 2016 she has been part of the production team of FRAPA Screenwriting Festival and in 2020 co-founded POADOC, Porto Alegre's first documentary festival. She has also produced award-winning short films and currently works as a producer on various projects, including the TV film Família em Construção and other upcoming films at Vulcana Cinema, and also as a freelancer.
